Monthly Report for June 2016

This is the second monthly report.  Many more will come.  I provide insight on all of my sites, not just Authority Grinder itself.  To that end, I will share all the stuff: statistics, challenges, and achievements for each one.

I will not publish the site names nor keywords, as I've seen others that have shared their stuff get copied and even get attacked with negative SEO tactics. This is a business for me and I'm not willing to potentially expose myself to that.

I do share just about all the details of my sites, but I'd like to add a different spin than others.  Here's the deal...

Added to these monthly reports is the emotions that go along with it.  The fear of a new site not succeeding, wasting money on a project that doesn't produce, or wondering if you're the only one having challenges.  The fun and the happiness of reaching a goal, whether financial or rankings, will also be shared.

The frustration of not meeting a goal is softened and the excitement of exceeding a goal is sweetened by sharing them with you, my supporters.  So let's get to it...

Here's the monthly report for June 2016.  Enjoy!

PROJECT 1

Project 1 is a niche site designed for affiliate sales around Amazon.  Adsense is added, but it's not geared towards it.

I started this site in August of 2015.  β€‹There's about 40 pages/posts live at the start of the month.  The niche is around professional medical products.

Updates

I have to admit, I am addicted to checking the stats daily.  It's one of the first things I do in the mornings after letting the dogs out, getting some coffee, and turning on the computer.

Yeah, I know it's a waste of time and not very productive.  But I do it anyway.  I want to break this bad habit but can't.

Well, checking the stats daily led to something.  Something HUGE!

A few days into I noticed that some of my keywords starting jumping up in the rankings.  I'm talking like going to 3, 2, and even 1 spots.  WOW!!!

This changes things, big time.  I'm pumped, ready to grind away.  Perhaps I should call in sick and work on the sites.  πŸ˜‰ Nah, that wouldn't be right.

With these huges jumps, I should reconsider the effort with the site.  After all, I was considering 'giving up' and selling it.  But these rankings have changed my thought process.

The renewed enthusiasm, maybe a few more posts and some additional backlinks may help.  So I took a chance and that's what I did.

My goal for the month was to get 6 guest posts.  I did that, 6 guest posts through a paid service.  Done!

I also bought a HOTH Planitum package for some inner pages. One that has a lot of other posts linking to it. So I did that too.

Overall, the increased rankings really renewed my spirit about niche sites.  So much so, that I have a huge announcement later in the post.

Content

There's currently about 40ish pages/posts on the site.

Content, I'll need some more content.  I researched some very low informational keywords like "how to" and "what is."  I'm hoping by increasing the ratio of informational posts to the review posts, Google won't penalize my site with 'thin' content.

So I ordered 10 articles through Textbroker.  That took some time to research the keywords, write the content briefs, submit, review, accept, and post them.  Well, I only posted about 7 out of the 10 that I ordered.  That's all the time I had.  But that's 7 more than before.

Something very interesting happened with those 7 new posts.  The rankings for them didn't start off in the high 70's or 80's when I first started this site.  They started off on page 2 when searching with Google.

I related this to what some experts are saying about authority sites.  Once you have some overall site recognition with Google, new posts will rank well.

Let's see if they continue to improve as they were mostly added the last week in June.

Rankings

Okay, the first part of the statistics sections.

  • DA went down 1 point to 23
  • PA went down 1 point as well to 35
  • CF stayed the same at 32
  • TF went up 1 point to 20
  • Total links increased by 66 to a total of 645

Analytics

authority grinder project 1 monthly report for june

As you can see, there were 12,069 sessions in May.  That's almost double of last months.  WOW πŸ™‚  I'M REALLY STOKED!!!!!

Console

project 1 monthly report for june authority grinder

Again, the total click almost doubled from last month.  Unbelievable!  What a feeling, I'm totally fortunate and lucky to have this happen!

AdSense

authority grinder monthly report june adsense

The revenue almost tripled from last month.  Maybe the new informational posts will help increase this revenue stream.  Time will tell.  Not really worried about it, but I'd be very happy with an extra $25 per month!

Amazon Affilliate

authority grinder monthly report project 1 june amazon

I don't think I can write in words of how I feel about this....

HOLY COW!!!!!!!!

Almost triple from last month!!!!!  Those page rankings in Google are driving traffic to Amazon way up.  And that amazingly resulted in more purchases.

I'm also finding that people aren't just buying what products I link to.  Some have bought cat food, clothes, and even electronics from my links on healthcare products.

The cool thing is that I still get commissions from it.

My second month of making a profit, and two in a row.

I'm afraid to write this stuff because I don't want to jinx myself.  Or sound to arrogant.

It's kinda hard, because I worked so hard and sacrificed so much to get here.  I want to shout from the roof tops that I broke $1,000 a month on Amazon but yet....

I don't want to be 'look at me' or seem like I'm a know it all.

Hey, if I can break $1,000 a month after years of failing, hardships, and buying junk courses from ****heads on the web, YOU CAN DO IT TOO!

Next Month Goals

So this changes my total thought process for this site.  I'd be happy making $1,000 per month off this site.  But....

What if I could grow the size, especially with what I noticed about the Google rankings of the 7 new posts I added this month??????

Hmmm......

I'll have to do some more keyword research and see if I could expand it.

For now, I still have some articles that I need to post, so I'd like to get that done next month.

I'll continue the goal of adding 6 guest posts next month too.

I think these are some pretty easy attainable goals for the next month.

PROJECT 2

Project 2 is a site built around AdSense.  I started to build it from scratch in January of this year.  The niche is careers.  It's been sitting in the Google Sandbox.

So far there are only two posts on the site.  I've built some backlinks through relevant niche directories and resources pages.

Updates

No real movement here.  No substantial work put into this one.

My initial goal was to get the site indexed with Google and let it marinate through the Sandbox.  I wanted to get 3 posts on the site and let it sit.  I've accomplished this goal.

I'm planning on working on this site around July as that's when I expect it to start ranking.  In the meantime, I'd like to have some articles ready and have things prepped like an autoresponder framework in place.

Content

I did want to place another big article on it, so I placed an order with Textbroker for it.

I got it article and potentially found another writer to add to my team.

Even though I wanted to get this article up, I never made it.  Some other projects took off with Project 1 and the HUGE announcement that I'll go into later in the post.

Rankings

I didn't expect any changes here and that's what I got.

  • DA stayed the same at 19
  • PA stayed the same at 32
  • CF went up 2 points to 28
  • TF stayed the same at 16
  • Total links decreased by 9 to a total of 71

Analytics

project 2 analytics monthly report for june

The number of sessions went down, almost in half from last month.  No worries for now, as it's still in the Sandbox.

Console

project 2 console monthly report for june

No major changes here either.  The average position ranking is the same as last month.

AdSense

Hey, income increase by two cents!  Oh boy!

Seriously, not worried about it.  Just letting it marinate.

Yeah......

Not making anything but pennies.  Gotta start somewhere.

I actually believe this site has alot of potential due to me actually taking just over a month to plan it.  So much more potential than Project 1.  If I were to sell Project 1, this is most likely where I'd reinvest the money.

I know there's gonna be some upfront investment with this site.  I'm okay with it, just a pain that it takes so long.  I want some progress to keep me motivated!

Next Month Goals

My goal for July is to actually post two or three of the articles from Textboker.  No backlinks or new article orders.  Marination time in the sand. (Yup, same as last month)

PROJECT 3

Yes, this is a new Project!!!!!  This is one of BIG announcements that I've been talking about.

Project 3 is a new site that I currently plan to sell.  I'm considering resigning from my full time job in about a year, once I get this affiliate website stuff down.

My wife and I are looking to move in about 4 years, when our daughter goes to college.  When I do this, I'd like this new site to be earning good money, hopefully about 3 to 4 thousand per month.

Selling the site for about 25 times the monthly earning should yield about $100,000.  This combined with what equity we have in our current home should allow us to buy a home with no mortgage.  Debt free baby!!!!!

This ties back to me leaving a steady job with a steady paycheck, to being a website entrepreneur.   Not having that dreaded monthly mortgage hanging around my neck and anxious about site income fluctuations.

That's my long term dream with this new site.

So let's get into some details about this site....

Project 3 will be also in the career niche.  It will have a different niche than Project 1.  The main revenue stream will also be geared toward AdSense.

Yup, AdSense again.  I prefer my sites to be more 'low maintenance' than a site that needs constant attention.

Develop it, grow it, and alittle nurturing here and there is my kind of thing.  It's just my preference.

The short term plan is to let it marinate in Google's Sandbox for 6 months.  So this should be ready to start growing late this year if not early next year.

I bought a HOTH Platinum package for this project. They’re great to work with as they had a promo running. They let me buy the package with the promo price and put a hold on it until I’m ready for them to run it.

Content

I did some keyword research and identified a category of the niche that should be easy to rank for.

I place an order for one article with Textbroker.  It's a key article, so it needs a ton of detail.

I have a writer that worked very well on an article on Project 1, so I did a direct order.

It cost alittle more than I would have liked, but the quality and detail done by the writer is worth it.

Totally an investment point at this time.

I don't plan on making any money from this site until early next year.

The web hosting fees is showing zero because I have the BlueHost package with additional domains.  No extra cost for adding this new site.

The domain name purchase was for three years.  β€‹

Next Month Goals

I'd like to continue building the site and get the first article posted.

I'd also like to get two more articles written and posted.

Also, I'd like to setup some social accounts for this site.  I'm thinking Google +, Facebook and Twitter.

Then I'll submit project 3 to be indexed.

PROJECT 4

Another one???  I sure did, I created another Project!!!!  This is the second BIG announcement, one more to come.

This ties into the third announcement which will be later on in this post.

I created another Amazon Affiliate niche website.  Again, this fits with my 'low maintenance' website style that I prefer.

Project 4 is in the hobby niche, one that I actually do as a hobby.  Yeah, this website stuff started off as a hobby of mine and I still enjoy it.

The goal with this project is to have it up and running by the Holiday buying season.  I'm not sure how it'll work with Google's Sandbox, but I have some ideas to work around it.  Seeing that it's June, and the sand lasts about 6 months, I'll be pushing it by November.

I wanted another Amazon affiliate site just because I want to diversify my online income streams.  I don't want to rely on just on method of making income.

I bought a domain name.  After some thought, I wanted a different one.  Ughhh... trying to decide on a website name is tough.

Which one catches the readers eye?  Which one will stick with them?

I didn't even get the website up at the end of the month.  Ughhh...  And I want it making money in a few months....

I gotta get my butt in action!!!

Content

I researched some low competition keywords through Long Tail Pro.  I use it for all my sites not just this one.

I have a sub-category keyword that I'd like to build out.  So I ordered seven articles on Textbroker.

These articles include informational and buying specific topics.

I don't plan on writing a single post for this site, I won't have the time.  Especially if I want this up and making money by November.

Next Month Goals

The main goal is to get the site up and in Google's index.  I'm on a time crunch and I need to stay on schedule.

Having some more articles written that are low competition is another goal. I'd love to have 20 articles on hand by the end of July.

If I get three posted, that would be fantastic.

I also want to set up social accounts.  I'm thinking of Twitter, Google + and Facebook.  Once it's up and going, I'll take a look at Pinterest as this niche could work out well with it.

Maybe I'm taking on too much, but I like pushing myself.

The third and final big announcement is that I enrolled in two paid online courses. Both of which are showing a ton of potential.

I don't want to release what they are at this time.  It's not that I don't want to share.

It's just that if I don't feel they work out after using what they teach, I don't influence you in paying for these.

Perhaps that may make a good future post, reviewing these two courses if they work out.  If they don't work out, I'll be sure to let you know too!

One of the courses is directly related to Project 4.  It's being designed around this course. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it works and takes off!

I purchased two Thrive Theme products.  One is the Focus WordPress Theme that I'm using on this site as well as others.

The other product is the Thrive Ultimatum plugin.  I haven't used it on a site yet, they had a promo and I wanted it for the future.

I also bought two promo packages from App Sumo for Deposit Photos. I’m going to need a ton of photo’s for all these sites.

You should check out App Sumo, they have some amazing deals on different site tools.

I've got four projects going so far.  Very ambitious, but if I want to quit my day job and do what I enjoy, I gotta take some risk.

It's very scary for me to take this amount of risk, I've always been a structured and reserved guy.

I'm way out of my comfort zone, and it's VERY uncomfortable.

I'm also risking alot of money in the sites.  It took alot of overtime to get the money to invest in this business.  And yes, I treat it as a business and not a hobby.

But if you want to get your dreams, you must take some risk.  The more risk, the greater the reward.  And that ties into this month's video....

Here's a quick video to help you stay motivated.... and me πŸ˜‰ !

Well, that's the monthly report for June.  Let me know what you think.  Is there anything else you'd like to see about my sites? (No, I won't share the keywords or sites themselves πŸ˜‰ ).

Todd Connelly

I'm just like anyone else trying to grind away on websites for some extra money. When I'm not working my day job or pecking away on the keyboard, you can find me spending time with my wonderful wife and beautiful daughter. I obsess with numbers and data. (Maybe a little too much!)
